As always, Valentine's Day brought in tons of customers at local restaurants.
For example, Washoe Public House said they saw about 90 reservations, with 220 people expected to dine in.
"Even as of now, I can tell you the phone's ringing, people asking for reservations, and we are completely booked," said Brent Ross, the owner of Washoe Public House.
Ross said that around 2 p.m. on Saturday, a full three weeks after their reservations filled up for the holiday.
Even though it's a big day for business, Ross said they did not run a special menu for valentine's day.
"We're not bringing anything special just for it, because the prefixed menu is not what our guests want," he said. "They want our in-house normal menu, and we give them exactly what they like."
But that doesn't mean some tweaks were made.
"We decrease the overall item count because we write some specials," Ross said. 'We structure it a little bit more, but our volume is probably up 30 or 40%."
Fewer dishes, and more food to go around. Plus, some dishes got a little extra fancy for the holiday.
"We're probably going to run some kangaroo this evening," said Ross. "We'll probably have mahi-mahi as our fish. We're going to upgrade our pasta and probably just float it with a little bit of extra pork or anything like that."
Ross added "we're going a little above and beyond for Valentine's Day."
Ross said reservations are king on a day like this, but he might be able to make something work otherwise.
"We'd love to see you down for Valentine's Day," he said, "but we are so small that if you didn't get in three weeks ago, I probably can't squeeze it. But I'll do my best for y'all."
Whether it's Washoe Public House or another small space, Reno has some great places for a romantic holiday.
"I love Reno & keep it growing, guys," Ross said.
