The Bureau of Land Management is accepting applications for 2027 Guest Climbing Special Recreation Permits at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The application window opened June 15 and will remain open through Aug. 15.

Permits are required for commercial and organized group rock guiding services at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Guest Climbing Permits authorize companies and institutions to guide one 10-day trip or two five-day trips during the 2027 calendar year.

The permits are limited to two tours per day per climbing area and 12 people per climbing area per route. Eight permits are available for commercial companies, while four permits are available for educational institutions and groups.

If the number of applicants exceeds the available permits, applicants will be selected through a random lottery. Those not selected will be placed on a waiting list.

The Bureau of Land Management said late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

All applicants will be notified of the results by Sept. 30. Those selected must submit a complete Special Recreation Permit package by Oct. 15. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the permit.

Applicants can review information and instructions on the 2027 Climbing Permit fact sheet before applying.
