The Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation announced today that the Reno Arch will light up gold for their Know the Gold campaign during the month of September.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The festivities start at 6:00 p.m. on August 29 and go until 8:00 p.m., with the arch lighting ceremony happening at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The Reno Fire Department, Mayor Hilary Schieve, Sheriff Balaam, and special guest Kathleen Taylor will attend the lighting, as well as the University of Nevada, Reno cheerleading squad.
There will be a countdown and celebration, a DJ and food trucks available.
The Know the Gold campaign runs from September 1 through February 13, 2025, and throughout that time all contributions to the campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation, up to $775,000.
All fundraising benefits local children, and all support stays in Northern Nevada.
