A local coffee shop inspired by vintage Reno is celebrating its first anniversary.

One of the owners of Chrome Coffee Works runs a barber shop across the street from the business, and when the previous coffee shop went out of business, they wanted to spruce up the neighborhood and start their own spot.

But the owners say they're celebrating more than just the anniversary.

"We kind of opened last minute, and we were going to do a grand opening, and just kind of never slowed down from then," said co-owner Joseph Foley. "So, this is kind of our inaugural thing. This is our way to say thanks to our employees, all the customers who came by and helped us to open."

Chrome Coffee Works is inspired by the old Reno aesthetic from the 1930s to 1950s, the owners say.

They celebrated on Sunday with live music from the Ponderosa Playboys and drink specials.
