The Reno Fire Department is commending two first responders after they delivered a baby while working last week.

It happened on the night of April 24, according to a post from the RFD on X.

Paramedic Vanessa Sandoval and Firefighter Lester McDonald successfully delivered a healthy baby girl in the field, while assigned to Medic 2, according to the post.

The newborn and her mother are doing well.

"Delivering a baby in the field is no small task! It takes composure, teamwork, and a high level of competence," said the RFD in their post.

Following the delivery, the crew received a stork decal to place on their vehicle, as well as a stork pin they can wear on their uniform.
