Reno Police wrote 95 tickets and issued 33 warnings in September as part of a school zone and pedestrian safety operations in the area.

The operation was carried out with the help of a grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety according to a release from the City of Reno.

Seven officers conducted enforcement operations either within designated pedestrian safety zones downtown or in active school zones.

School zones were selected based on input from the public related to unsafe driving in those zones.

Efforts were focused on drivers and pedestrians who were violating laws that enhance pedestrian safety.

Nevada state law requires pedestrians to use sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian bridges and obey all traffic-control signs and signals. If there is no sidewalk, pedestrians must walk on the left side of the street, facing traffic.

Drivers are required to yield to pedestrians and avoid passing vehicles that are stopped for pedestrians.
