The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is expecting a busy Fourth of July holiday and is encouraging passengers to plan ahead.
RNO expects between 16,000-19,000 passengers to arrive and depart per day, with peak travel days being Thursday, July 2; Friday, July 3; Sunday, July 5 and Monday, July 6.
Compared to 2025’s Independence Day travel period, RNO anticipates a 5% increase in departing passengers for 2026, a growth attributed to strong passenger demand and airlines adding more than 40,000 new seats throughout the current season.
Tips for departing passengers Â
Airport officials are encouraging travelers to plan ahead and allow extra time to get to the airport, helping to ensure a smoother start to the holiday.Â
- Arrive early: Get to the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time to allow time for check-in, parking and security screening. Â
- Getting to the airport:Â Be aware of construction in and around the airport. Go slow and watch for lane closures and new traffic patterns.Â
- Parking at the airport: Parking availability is expected to be limited around Independence Day. Â
- Catch a ride from a friend, family member or other mode of transportation.Â
- Reserve parking in advance at RenoAirport.com/parking.Â
- Prepare to be directed to an overflow lot, which will require extra time to park and walk to the terminal.Â
- Check with the airline for the most up to date information about flight departure times.Â
