Music City is about to get a little closer to the Biggest Little City.
Starting Thursday, Reno Tahoe travelers will have a new nonstop way to get to Nashville. Southwest Airlines is launching year-round service between Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Nashville International Airport, with the first flight taking off Oct. 1.
For anyone making the trip, the biggest change is pretty simple: You can now fly from Reno to Nashville without a connection.
The new route also gives travelers the option to connect in Nashville to other destinations beyond Music City.
The year-round service is another addition to the nonstop options available from Reno Tahoe International Airport as the airport works to expand connections for people traveling to and from the region.
The airport says the growth in air service reflects increasing demand for travel to and from Reno Tahoe, which continues to attract visitors for major events, outdoor recreation and cultural experiences throughout the year.
And because the Nashville service will operate year-round, the new option won't be limited to a particular travel season.
The first Southwest flight from Reno to Nashville takes off Thursday, Oct. 1.
