A Nevada commissioner has ruled against Fox patriarch Rupert Murdoch, whose family trust case played out in Washoe County.

The New York Times reports that Rupert was attempting to change his family trust so that his oldest son Lachlan would take control of the Murdoch media empire.

As we'd originally reported, Lachlan's political viewpoints align most closely with Rupert's, and the proposed change would have essentially guaranteed that Fox News Channel and the Wall Street Journal maintain their right-wing editorial slant.

Commissioner Edmund J. Gorman Jr. concluded in his decision that the father and son had acted in "bad faith" to amend the trust, which divides control of the company equally between Rupert's four oldest children after his death.

A lawyer for the father and son, Adam Streisand, said that the pair were disappointed with the ruling, and that they intend to appeal.
