Sparks Blvd

Drivers on Sparks Boulevard can expect delays due to a roadway widening project. The Sparks Boulevard Project will prompt lane closures with detours starting on Monday, January 5.

RTC says the inside northbound and southbound lanes between Springland, O'Callaghan, and Baring Boulevard will be closed 24/7.

Howard Drive at Sparks Boulevard also remains closed, according to officials. Officials say there will be a detour available by using Fargo Way to O'Callaghan and Sparks Boulevard.

“Closing lanes in both directions at the same time allows us to complete this phase of work more efficiently and safely,” RTC Project Manager Garrett Rodgers said. “We know this will be disruptive, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we work to deliver long-term safety and mobility improvements along Sparks Boulevard.”

Officials also say the right-turn pocket from northbound Sparks Boulevard to Prater Way is closed to truck traffic due to the construction of a new retaining wall. Truck drivers can use the detour of Baring Boulevard.

In addition to the project, utility crews are relocating overhead power lines at Prater Way and Sparks Boulevard, which will also prompt lane closures.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and exercise caution during this project.

According to officials, the project is set to be completed in the middle of 2027, with a $86 million investment in the community. The funding is provided by federal grants and local sources.
