Sparks Police say when officers arrived just after 5 p.m. they found two cars with extensive damage. The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The passenger was treated at the scene.

The driver who allegedly caused the crash had left the scene. They were found on the west side of the Nugget Casino.

Jacob Carranza was arrested on the following charges:

VISTA BOULEVARD

Sparks Police say a head-on crash on Vista Boulevard shut down southbound traffic for a few hours near Loop Road just after 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Based on witness statements, police say it appears the at-fault driver was traveling northbound on Vista Boulevard at a high rate of speed when they lost control.

Three vehicles were involved and at least two people were taken to the hospital.

They say alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor.
