The Sparks Police Department is warning people of a scam involving calls claiming that victims have missed jury duty.
In a post on Facebook, the Department says they have gotten many complaints from people about the calls.
When a victim picks up the phone a caller will tell them they are an officer from the Sparks Police Department, say the victim has missed jury duty, and claim it is now a federal matter.
Sparks Police will never call anyone regarding any type of jury duty, the post says.
They advise anyone who gets a scam call like the one described to not give out personal or financial information.
Anyone who gets such a call, or who has questions about if a call they have gotten is legitimate, is asked to hang up and call Sparks Police at (775) 353-2231.
