The Storey County Sheriff's Office is warning of a phone scam that has been encountered by people in the community.
People have received phone calls from someone claiming to be a Storey County deputy demanding bitcoin to pay off a federal warrant, according to a post from the SCSO on Facebook.
The caller threatens arrest if their demands are not met.
In its post, the Sheriff's Office reminds people that they will never ask for payment over the phone, and will never ask for payment in bitcoin.
