63-year old Richard Barton was arrested on Thursday after an investigation into an aggravated stalking case.
Barton was arrested at his fortified residence in the hills north of Osino by Elko SWAT - he was taken into custody without incident.
According to a report from the Elko Police Department, a woman who used to work with Barton contacted the department.
She said that after he'd left their shared workplace, Barton began harassing her.
The woman reported that Barton had been following her and that based on his erratic action she was worried for her own safety.
Attempts were made to serve Barton with a restraining order, but he repeatedly evaded officials trying to serve him.
At that point it was learned that Barton was fortifying his home with a small arsenal in anticipation of a conflict with police.
A search warrant was granted for his home, and officials found guns staged behind steel plate armor near every door to the house. Supplies were also found that would've allowed Barton to stay holed up for the long-term.
Barton was booked into the Elko County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Stalking, Coercion, Possession of a Short-Barreled Rifle and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Bail has been set at $425,000.
