The University of Nevada, Reno has pledged to keep their athletics programs in the Mountain West Conference.

"For more than a decade, the University of Nevada has stood firmly as a proud member of the Mountain West Conference, and although there have been shifts in alignment over the past several days, our commitment to the Conference remains steadfast," said university President Brian Sandoval and Director of Athletics Stephanie Rempe in a joint statement on Thursday.

The statement said they are focused on an exciting future for Wolf Pack Athletics as part of the Mountain West, saying the University's relationship with the conference has always been driven by integrity, loyalty, and a strong sense of partnership in achieving the highest levels of athletic and academic success.

Seven universities have signed a memorandum of understanding to remain in the conference.

Those institutions include the University of Nevada, Reno; the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; The United States Air Force Academy; the University of Hawai'i, Manoa; the University of New Mexico; San Jose State University; and the University of Wyoming.
