The University of Nevada, Reno welcomes a new piece to its collection of work done by local artists on campus this week.
In a collaboration between Nevada Dining, Residential Life, Housing and Food Services and a student artist, a new mural has been painted in Argenta Hall, next to Pack Place - the campus' dining hall.
The mural was conceived, designed and painted by Fine Arts student Aspen Carrillo.
The piece makes up a scene inspired by our local surroundings; the landscapes, landmarks, and Indigenous cultural representations.
"It was an incredible honor to be part of this project. I wanted the mural to feel like an authentic representation of both the local environment and the unique energy of the campus," said Carrillo, who was chosen for this project through an open campus-wide call for artists. "I hope it brings people together and serves as a reminder of the shared experiences and connections that make this place so special."
The mural was painted during the university's recent winter break.
