The United States Postal Service is planning a hiring event in Carson City later this month, aimed at filling rural mail delivery positions that serve parts of Northern Nevada.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the EmployNV Business Hub, located at 1929 N. Carson City Street.
The Postal Service says it is looking for people interested in working as Rural Carrier Associates, positions that help deliver and collect mail for families and businesses in rural and suburban areas.
According to the agency, the starting pay for the job is $21.89 an hour, paid every two weeks.
People hired for the role deliver and collect mail and may also sell stamps, supplies, and money orders while serving on their routes. The position involves delivering mail in rural communities, including Gardnerville, Incline Village, and Minden.
Applicants must have a valid state driver's license and be able to demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record.
The Postal Service describes the role as one that can involve spending time outdoors while serving local communities.
