A 25-year-old Reno man was killed after his motorcycle overturned and struck two barriers on a freeway transition ramp in Reno, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 1:07 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, on the eastbound Interstate 80 transition ramp to northbound U.S. 395.
The Division said its preliminary investigation found Joshua David Gummert was riding a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound in the No. 1 travel lane when the motorcycle overturned onto its right side while he was attempting to make a right turn.
The motorcycle began sliding and struck a guardrail on the left shoulder before hitting a concrete barrier on the right shoulder. It came to rest on its left side, partially in the right shoulder and travel lane.
Gummert was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The Division’s Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
A GoFundMe has been started to help Gummert’s wife, Isabella, and their two young sons with funeral expenses, daycare, household expenses and other immediate needs. The fundraiser can be found here.
