A man died following a crash between a car and a big rig west of Winnemucca on Wednesday.
Nevada State Police say it happened just after 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday on I-80 in Pershing County, about 20 miles west of Winnemucca.
A white Toyota Corolla was heading east on I-80 in the far right eastbound lane while a big rig in the same lane was driving slowly due to a wildfire that had closed a portion of I-80 closer to Winnemucca according to an NSP press release.
The Corolla hit the back of the big rig and went underneath it.
The driver of the Corolla, identified as 65-year-old Lawerence Neely of East Carbon, Utah, died from his injuries on the scene.
Nobody else was in the Corolla with him at the time of the crash, and the driver of the big rig was uninjured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and is being conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
