The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found after a fire was extinguished near El Rancho Drive in Sparks on April 14.
40-year-old Robert McCarthy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
The Sparks Police Department is handling the law enforcement investigation for this case.

UPDATE - APRIL 15, 7:30 A.M.:
On the evening of April 14, around 5:39 p.m., the Reno Fire Department responded to Elementary and El Rancho Drive for a brush fire behind 555 El Rancho Drive.
After putting out the flames, firefighters found a deceased adult man at the scene.
The Reno Police Department was initially called, but the incident was later determined to fall under the jurisdiction of the City of Sparks.
Sparks Police detectives were called out and have since taken over the investigation.
At this time, both the origin of the fire and the cause of the man's death remain unknown.
Sparks Police, in a statement, thanked Reno Police, Reno Fire, REMSA, and the residents who attempted to contain the fire before emergency crews arrived.

Police in Sparks were called to the area of Teglia's Paradise Park in Sparks for a report of a dead body.
According to officials, at around 7:00 p.m. Monday night, the body was found near the park, located on Oddie Boulevard.
Officials have determined that there is no active threat at this time.
Sparks Police are currently investigating.
