The Washoe County School District says a federal government spending freeze will not affect students receiving meal assistance.

In a release on Tuesday, the district said they are continuing to review the possible impacts of a pause on education agency grants, loans, and other financial assistance programs.

They also took the opportunity to reassure families that students who receive meal assistance through free or reduced lunch programs will continue to receive that assistance.

"No child will be denied a meal at our schools," read their statement in part.

The district will continue working with federal and state agency partners.Â
