Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 Odin is retiring after five years of service.

The Sheriff's Office made the announcement on Facebook on Wednesday.

Odin was a dual-purpose K9, serving mainly in the Patrol Division while also supporting the Northern Nevada Interdiction Task Force and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

He was partnered with Deputy Evans, and the two responded to patrol calls, regional team operations, critical incidents, and SWAT deployments across the region.

“In recognition of your tireless work and commitment to this profession, I want to express my gratitude for everything you have done for our community and for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office,” said Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam. “Thank you for your service and the lasting impact you have made on this agency and our community. I have one last mission for you, K9 Odin, watch over the Evans family and enjoy your well-earned retirement.”
