Washoe County Sheriff's Office is using their newest patrol and rescue vehicle on Lake Tahoe.

The 35-foot boat, called Marine 9, is equipped with advanced navigation, communication and water rescue technology, according to the sheriff's office. It's powered by three outboard engines with 1,050 horsepower.

"Marine 9 is an investment in the safety of everyone who enjoys Lake Tahoe," said Sheriff Balaam. "We are incredibly grateful to the Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association for their decades of unwavering support of the Sheriff's Office. Their generosity made Marine 9 possible and strengthens our ability to respond quickly, conduct search and rescue operations, and deliver the dependable service our community and visitors rely on."

Marine 9 was purchased entirely through generous donations from the Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association, with no public funds used.
