The Washoe County Senior Center is temporarily closing for a significant remodel starting tomorrow.
It is set to undergo significant upgrades, and construction is scheduled to continue from January 8 through March 31.
During the construction, a different section of the building will be open to offer meals to seniors from 11:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Â

"We will be feeding people on the north side of the building in our old day break area; it's now called Art Town. We're going to start feeding people at 11:15 and we'll be feeding individuals in shifts because we can only hold about 40 people," said Washoe County Human Services Coordinator Abby Badolato.
The Meals on Wheels program will continue service without interruption.
Sparks senior resident Marie Blank attends the senior center almost every day and has been coming for eight years to enjoy activities like leather making and bingo.
"I'm hoping that the people will enjoy it more, and we'll have more of a turnout for seniors. Right now, it's a mediocre turnout, but I'm hoping we get more," said Sparks senior resident Marie Blank.
In addition, senior services will provide several regular activities at the Evelyn Mount Center beginning January 8, 2025. For more information, call (775) 328-2575.
