Mineral County deputies say a man already in jail for suspected child pornography has agreed to plead guilty after a forensics review allegedly found hundreds of child sex photos and videos on electronic devices.
Deputies say they arrested Stevins Jones after a multi-agency investigation into Child Sexual Abuse Material after he was initially arrested in March for violating his lifetime supervision.
Deputies say at that time, Jones was investigated for suspected possession of child pornography. They say a preliminary search of his laptop confirmed he was actively using the internet to search for material so they seized numerous electronics devices as evidence.
Mineral County, along with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and FBI then conducted a comprehensive forensic examination.
The next month, Mineral County deputies finished a review of all device downloads. Deputies say out of 6,795 flagged files, forensics identified 590 photos and 158 videos.
After consultation with the Mineral County District Attorney, Jones was formally charged with one felony count of promotion of sexual performance of a minor child.
Earlier this month, deputies say he agreed to plead guilty to that one count.
