A rain-soaked swath of the Southwest U.S. has endured additional flooding after days of rain forced evacuations and water rescues. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch Sunday for much of the Four Corners region — the meeting point of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. At least one tornado touched down in New Mexico. Though local officials forecast further receding of swollen rivers, they say many residents remain evacuated and without power. The area has experienced unusually heavy rain since last Wednesday that has surged rivers, flooding homes and forcing water rescues. Officials say they're not aware of any deaths.
Parts of the Southwest's Four Corners region remain under a flood warning as saturated neighborhoods begin cleaning up and assessing damage after days of flooding. It's affected areas along the San Juan River in Colorado and Utah. The region has experienced unusually heavy rain since Wednesday, causing rivers to surge and homes to flood. One flooding-related death was reported in Santa Fe, New Mexico, during a water rescue. Officials warn of possible water contamination with chemicals and raw sewage. Some residents remain evacuated, and hundreds are without power. Authorities continue to assess damage in affected areas.
