AI stocks are sliding worldwide after leaders of the industry warned a slowdown is needed for safety, while another jump in oil prices is pressuring financial markets. The S&P 500 fell 0.6% Monday. Many more tech stocks are in the Nasdaq composite, and it sank 0.8% after the CEO of Anthropic called for a global slowdown in the development of AI. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 147 points. The losses for AI stocks overshadowed gains for oil producers as Brent crude's price rose roughly 4%. Software stocks also recovered some losses taken on worries AI would upend their businesses.
