A former second-grade teacher in Las Vegas was sentenced to nine years in prison for distributing child sexual abuse material.

38-year old Alexander Scott Derringer distributed over 130 files through two different accounts on the mobile app "Kik."

About 59 of the files were recovered from two cell phones, both owned by Derringer.

Those 59 files were among 2,500+ images and nearly 270 videos of abuse found on both devices. The images and videos showed minors as young as infants.

"Mr. Derringer abused his position of public trust to prey on those we expected him to protect," said Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans of the FBI Las Vegas Division.

The Henderson Police Department was able to identify Derringer after receiving tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a person using an IP address associated with Derringer's home was sharing the material.

In June, Derringer pleaded guilty to a single count of distribution of child pornography.
