Gaza UNRWA

The U.S.-created Board of Peace has said the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees has no place in Gaza. But behind the scenes, the board has spoken with UNRWA about providing services under the fragile ceasefire. That's according to Philippe Lazzarini, the agency’s most recent chief, who spoke to The Associated Press. Despite Israel's accusations that the agency is infiltrated by Hamas, UNRWA remains Gaza's largest aid provider. Several people said the Board of Peace has involved the agency in planning discussions and indicated a desire to build upon its work or copy it. A board member says its programs might remain even if the agency doesn't.
