Guatemala Migrants Deported

The United States has deported nearly 2,300 Mexicans to Guatemala this year and sent dozens more to Honduras. Authorities report this marks a shift from earlier in President Trump's second term when such transfers were minimal. Until now, Mexicans deported from the U.S. were mostly sent back to Mexico. Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo confirmed Wednesday that these deportees arrive as part of a "transit stopover" before returning to Mexico. The Mexican government or U.S. funding covers the costs. Mexico’s National Migration Institute says the U.S. aims to prevent these individuals from re-entering its territory.
