U.S. President Donald Trump says he’s strongly considering pulling the United States out of NATO, yet he failed to mention the alliance in his speech to the American public about the Iran war. Trump has ratcheted up his criticism of European leaders and exposed a wider rift in the trans-Atlantic alliance regarding the Iranian conflict. Trump’s talk of a possible NATO pullout dates back years. But his comments to The Telegraph newspaper in the U.K., published Wednesday, were among the clearest and most disparaging yet. Trump later told guests at a private White House lunch that NATO would “ be treating us badly again if we ever need them.”
