Stephen Miller replaces Susie Wiles as Trump's White House chief of staff after GOP's midterm defeat
President Donald Trump's White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, is stepping down and will be replaced by Stephen Miller, a key member of Trump’s inner circle. Wiles' departure comes after midterm elections that saw major Republican losses. She is Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff and the first woman ever to hold the position. Miller, long a key member of Trump’s inner circle, is a key architect of the administration’s hard-line immigration policies. He is one of Trump’s closest and longest-serving advisers, jumping on board during his long-shot 2016 presidential campaign as a speechwriter.
President Donald Trump said Stephen Miller is replacing Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, mere days after Republicans lost control of Congress in the midterm elections. Miller is a key architect of the administration’s hard-line immigration policies. Wiles was Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff and his longtime adviser. A handful of remaining Senate and House races still to be called by The Associated Press will determine the strength of Democrats’ majority in Congress. Democrats will hold at least 54 seats in the 100-member Senate next year, and as many as 56 depending on final results in Alaska and Mississippi.
