FBI agents walk door to door to try to speak with neighbors as members of the media follow them, Sunday, April 26, 2026, near an address in Torrance, Calif., connected to Cole Tomas Allen, who was identified as the shooting suspect at the White House Correspondents Dinner the night before.
The California man arrested in the shooting incident at the media dinner in Washington is a highly educated tutor and amateur video game developer who's opposed to the policies of President Donald Trump. In writings sent to family members shortly before the Saturday night incident, Cole Tomas Allen described himself as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and railed against recent actions taken by the U.S. government under Trump, though he didn't mention the president by name. That's according to a law enforcement official who wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
