The Vatican says 40,000 people from Uruguay and neighboring Argentina and Brazil are pouring into a city on the Uruguay River for Pope Leo XIV’s first Mass on the continent. More than 30,000 people had registered to attend the Mass in the Parque ParÃs Londres. Leo arrived in Uruguay on Friday and had an intense afternoon and evening of events. His aim in Uruguay is to urge the people in this overwhelmingly secular country with a population of 3.5 million to look to the Catholic faith for strength in confronting today’s problems and challenges.
