Friends of Avi Kwa Ame is hosting a celebration to mark the 3rd anniversary of Avi Kwa Ame's designation as a national monument in Nevada.
The event called ‘Time Travel Through Avi Kwa Ame’ will be held on Saturday, April 25, at the historic Walking Box Ranch near Searchlight. It will feature presentations, tours, and workshops showcasing the cultural history of the monument.
All activities are free and open to the public and will include:
Guided tours of the Walking Box Ranch House
Silent film screenings
Paleontology talks about the Late Pleistocene and Triassic periods
A Mojave beadwork workshop
A wildflower walk through Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness
History and preservation panel discussions
A presentation on Navajo rug history
Astronomy displays, and more
