Tax Doc with DOJ seal

A Las Vegas woman who ran a tax return preparation business pleaded guilty earlier this week to preparing false tax returns on behalf of her clients.

The false returns reportedly caused at least $550,000 in tax revenue lost to the IRS.

The U.S. Attorney's office reports that Keisy Altagracia Sosa has operated National Tax Service since at least 2007, and from 2016 to 2021 Sosa prepared illegitimate tax returns.

The returns included things like falsely claimed dependents and claiming fictional expenses.

Officials say that Sosa continued to file these false returns even after the IRS sent her multiple letters saying that the returns she was filing appeared to be inaccurate.

Sosa pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and assisting in the preparation and filing of a false tax return, which has a maximum penalty of three years in prison along with supervised released and a fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 11, 2025.
