A driver pulled out a gun after being pulled over for failing to stop at a red light on I-15 in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says it happened around 12:48 a.m. on February 8.
The agency says impairment was suspected but the driver refused to cooperate when asked to get out of the vehicle.
During the encounter, the trooper saw the driver pointing their gun at them, so the trooper fired their gun into the driver's side window.
They arrested the driver immediately after he was released from hospital.
There were no serious injuries to either person involved.
This is an active investigation.
