For years, travelers had to deal with a lot of construction getting to and from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
However, they can expect an easier path for picking up and dropping off people with its new loop road project being finished.
The airport completed the first part of the project with its new ticketing hall back in April.
This is now the second project to be completed in the expansion.
"This is kind of the end of the front door phase, so we did 50 million dollars' worth of work just to kind of remake the front door," Griffin said. "It's the first and last impression. So, that was really important to kind of get that done first."
The new loop road is 1,800 linear feet that includes smoother asphalt, elevated crosswalks, and new canopies so travelers don't have to wait outside in the rain or snow.
The airport will now be more accessible for everyone coming to and from the airport.
However, there is still one big hurdle the airport is trying to navigate.
"So, parking continues to be our number one challenge here," Griffin said. "A lot of people travel long distances to use this airport, and they rely on us to park our cars."
Which brings us to the next project the airport is working on: The new Ground Transportation Center.
The airport broke ground on it this year as they work to prepare the space.
Construction will begin next summer and they hope to finish by 2027.
This center will allow for more rental car and shuttle space.
That will free up about 600 parking spots in the current garage for people to leave their cars when they travel.
They will also start working on both of the concourses in 2026.
The first one will finish in 2028, and the other in 2029.
"Unfortunately we have five more years of work here, but when you're building a new airport and keeping it open," Griffin said. "It takes a while."
