Renown's pharmacy location on the back side of South Meadows has been open for about six months.
They offer everything from vaccinations to private rooms and medications.
“So we have the hospital right here so people can come over here if they have to get meds before they go home," says Dr. Marie McCormack, the Director for Renown’s Primary Care Group. "We also have a program called meds to beds, so it often ties if there’s a new prescription being written they’ll give the medications to the patient before they let them out.”
Renown says they can provide almost any vaccine you may need. Right now they're pushing everyone to get their flu and COVID shots, and if you're over the age of 60 or pregnant to get your RSV vaccine.
“This year it’s not just two big illnesses the third illness is RSV and, in the past, we never made a huge deal about RSV which stands for respiratory syncytial virus, the reason we didn’t is because we didn’t have a vaccine against it and now with everything, we’ve learned in COVID about building vaccines we now have a vaccine against RSV,” explains Dr. McCormack.
She also mentions you can get the COVID and flu vaccines at the same time. But if you've had COVID recently you should wait six weeks before getting your COVID shot.
“We want you to get the COVID vaccine because unfortunately COVID is alive and well still in the United States and around the world so we’re hoping to get down to only having to have one COVID vaccine a year just like we do a flu shot,” says Dr. McCormack.
Walks ins are welcome for vaccinations, but they prefer you make an appointment on MyChart.
“Easy peasy come in get the vaccine you’ll never have to have another one and you will be safe from all the nasty little respiratory viruses running around in Reno." syas Dr. McCormack.
