The Plumas National Forest has reduced speed limits on Forest Road 28N01 to 15 miles per hour. The reduced speed limits will be from the intersection of Forest Road 26N70 to the intersection of Forest Road 25N31.
This is due to safety concerns, since the road is close to where the Rainbow Family Gathering is currently located.
It was located in the Indian Creek Headwaters area on the Mount Hough Ranger District, but after being asked to move, is now on the Beckwourth Ranger District about 12 miles north of Beckwourth, California.
The order to reduce speed limits will be in effect through July 15 or until Forest leadership determines they can be lifted.
