A suspect in a par of shootings in Silver Springs has been arrested.

Stephen Thomas Shytle of Silver Springs was found and arrested around 2 p.m. Monday according to a release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

He was located after authorities with the Sheriff's Office's Investigations Division got a tip leading them to a remote area of Silver Springs.

Shytle was wanted in relation to a double shooting in Silver Springs on June 26th.

He was booked into the Lyon County Jail on two counts of attempted murder and one count of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

His bail was set at $310,000.


June 29th at 4:25 p.m. Update:

In the morning on June 29, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office seized the suspect's white Dodge truck at Lake Lahontan, but they did not find the suspect.

After investigating, the agency found that Shytle was not in the area.

Shytle is still at large and is wanted for multiple felony charges.

June 27th at 4:49 p.m. Update

A suspect has been identified in a pair of shootings that happened in Silver Springs on Wednesday.

53-year-old Silver Springs resident Stephen Thomas Shytle has been identified in a release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Shytle is believed to be driving a white, 2001 Dodge Ram extended cab truck, bearing Nevada license plate 119Y67. The truck also has a lumber rack attached to the bed.

Shytle should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised not to attempt contact with him. Instead, contact law enforcement immediately.

June 26th at 11:47 p.m. Update:

Two men were taken to the hospital via Care Flight after being shot in Silver Springs Wednesday night.

The Sheriff's Office Central Command Patrol Squad responded to the Lahontan State Park Ranger Station at Lake Lahontan around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a man who had been shot multiple times.

When deputies arrived they discovered the shooting happened at a home on Birch Street in Silver Springs, according to a release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies went to the home and found another man with gunshot wounds.

Both men were taken to the hospital via Care Flight and their conditions are not known by the Sheriff's Office.

Authorities thought that the suspect in the shootings had barricaded himself in a building on the Birch Street property.

They established a perimeter and mobilized their SWAT Team.

Detectives with the Sheriff's Office's Major Crimes Unit obtained a warrant to search the property. That search did not find the suspect.

The suspect has not yet been positively identified and detectives are continuing to process the crime scene.
