Update, 2:07 p.m.:
Reno Police say that plainclothes officers working the Reno Rodeo Kick-Off concert/carnival responded to assist WCSO deputies involved in a fight.
Due to the large crowds, RPD officers could not directly reach the deputies.
One of the plainclothes officers in an attempt to reach the deputy quicker jumped a fence, as he went over his holster got caught up dislodging the gun and it fell to the ground.
Upon hitting the ground the gun fired a single round causing dirt debris to propel into the crowd.
Three people in the crowd suffered minor injuries from the dirt debris and received medical treatment.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office is currently conducting a thorough investigation of the incident.

Three people were treated for minor injuries, after a fight involving a Washoe County Sheriff's Deputy and a person involved in a domestic dispute went wrong.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 19 at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, during the opening night of Reno Rodeo, Kick Off Concert, at approximately 8:40 p.m.
A Reno Police Officer in a plainclothes status assisting a WCSO deputy involved in a fight with a subject accidentally discharged his gun.
During the fight, the gun became dislodged from the officers holster and struck the ground and a round was fired.
Three people suffered minor injuries, and were treated by medical personnel.
