The University Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office remembered a fallen officer on the anniversary of the day he was killed in the line of duty 26 years ago.
"Sergeant George D. Sullivan was killed while serving his campus community," said a post on the University Police Department X page. "George may be gone, but he will never be forgotten."
Sullivan served with the University of Nevada Police Department for 18 years according to the University Police Department's post.
He died on January 13th, 1998.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office shared a picture of a granite bench at the University of Nevada, Reno campus that honors his memory.
Thatbench is located on the east side of Manzanita Lake.
