Walmart employees are hosting a food drive for Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada's St. Vincent's Food Pantry.

The food drive will be held Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Walmart Superstore located at 155 Damonte Ranch Parkway in Reno.

Members of the community can drop off non-perishable food items and meet the drivers responsible for keeping the stores stocked.

Employees of Walmart chose Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada as the beneficiary of their inaugural Reno project.

Donations will be distributed by the St. Vincent's Food Pantry.

“Our Walmart fleet drivers dedicate their time to honoring members of their communities and this year they have chosen Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada for their inaugural event in Reno,” said Deidre Williams of Walmart.  “Our partnership with Catholic Charities in invaluable, and we recognize the significant impact our support will have on the more than 35,000 individuals being served monthly through the Food Pantry.”

St. Vincent's Food Pantry serves an average of 35,0000 people each month.

“We could not be more grateful to Walmart for their ongoing commitment to supporting our mission,” said Marie Baxter, CEO of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.  “As we provide sustenance throughout the year, events like this food drive, held outside of the holiday season, allow us to connect with the  community and share our story and mission. Being selected by Walmart Heart for this event holds a special significance for us.”
