U.S. President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an “energy ceasefire” in the 4 1/2-year-old war, but he offered no details on it and Kyiv reported continued attacks by Moscow on energy sites after his statement. Moscow has not commented. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that while his country “welcomed” the announcement, Russia was still hitting energy infrastructure in Kyiv and in the city of Kharkiv. The announcement follows Trump's criticism of Zelenskyy for attacks on Russian diesel facilities. Trump also said it was time for Ukraine to get a new president, suggesting Zelenskyy hasn't done enough to end the war. Zelenskyy said Ukraine could hold elections if Russia agreed to a 60-day ceasefire.
Ukraine and Russia have reported cyberattacks on their emergency alert apps. In Ukraine, users received false warnings of dangerously high radiation levels, a chemical threat and public disturbances in Kyiv. Ukraine’s air raid alert channel said late Sunday that unauthorized parties had interfered with the app. The service was temporarily suspended and restored overnight. Russian officials said hackers had sent fake alerts through the Emergency Ministry’s app, but the wider public alert system remained operational. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported renewed Russian attacks in the Kherson region after a temporary humanitarian ceasefire expired at midnight at the start of Monday.
