Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say a 93-year-old man has died after the pickup he was driving hit a tree on Kingsbury Grade in Stateline on Monday afternoon.
Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2008 Ford Ranger was heading west on Kingsbury Grade near Katherine Drive around 2:45 p.m. when for some unknown reason the driver, John Jacob Filas of Zephyr Cove, drifted off the roadway through a dirt right way of area and then hit a tree.Â
Filas was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he later died.Â
Troopers say Filas wearing his seatbelt and that impairment does not appear to be a contributing factor.Â
