Lanes are back open on I-580 after a fuel spill closed most of the northbound lanes on Thursday afternoon. Â
Nevada Highway Patrol says the tanker crashed near Damonte - and another car that was involved fled the scene.
NHP says the driver made a lane change, hit and pierced the fuel tank of the semi and it spilled about 70 gallons of diesel fuel on the road.
Another driver and a truck driver followed the hit and run suspect and blocked him on Old Virginia. They convinced him to wait there until troopers arrived.
Lanes of I-580 were closed for a few hours while crews cleaned up the spill.
