Nevada Highway Patrol is releasing more details on a fatal crash that happened on US-93 north near mile marker 101 north of Wells in Elko County on December 21st.
NHP says when troopers arrived on scene they found a U-Haul truck engulfed in flames and a semi-truck nearby, around 1:30 p.m.Â
NHP says a preliminary investigation shows that a U-Haul box van was traveling southbound on US-93 towards Wells, while a white 2019 Western Star semi-truck was traveling northbound on US-93 towards Jackpot. NHP says the U-Haul went into the northbound lane and struck the left front of the tractor/trailer. The U-Haul then caught fire and stopped, along with the semi-truck.
As a result of the collision, debris was scattered across both travel lanes of US-93.
NHP says both drivers died on scene.Â
The U-Haul driver was identified as 23-year-old Tia Roll of Billings, Montana and the semi-truck driver was 46-year-old Roop Singh of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.Â
No one was else was involved in the crash.Â
