NHP Investigates Deadly Pedestrian Crash on I-580 Near Mill

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say a man died on Interstate 580 south near Mill Street on Saturday night after being hit by a Honda sedan.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicate a red 2011 Honda Accord was heading south in the left lane of I-580, while at the same time, a man was walking south in the left travel lane, just ahead of the Honda. Troopers say the Honda struck the man throwing him onto the inside shoulder of 580 south, just before 5:30 p.m.

Troopers say the driver stopped to check the status of the man, called 911 and stayed on scene to cooperate with the investigation.

The victim died on scene – and his name hasn't yet been released. They say alcohol and/or drugs were not involved in the accident.
