UPDATE: The Carson City Sheriff's Office released new details on a stabbing that happened in February of 2020 near Woodside Drive.

Officials identified the deceased as Clint Malone, who allegedly invaded a house in the area that night and was stabbed by a person inside.

That person, identified as Larry Arnold, is not facing charges. The District Attorney's Office found that he was justified in his actions.

A petition for a coroner's inquest was submitted and the death was investigated. The District Attorney's Office (DA) presented the inquest to a jury and a municipal court judge, then afterward depending on the ruling the DA can come back with charges.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong released this statement on Monday:

“I am very pleased with the Carson City's District Attorneys decision to present this case to a jury. At stake was an unarmed suspect entering the home of a resident and the suspect was killed. The nature of the facts was best presented to a jury for recommendations to the criminal justice system.”

Original Story, February 2020:

Carson City Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is investigating the death of an intruder after he was stabbed multiple times by an apartment resident.

CCSO say a Native American man intruded on an apartment, at 9:32 p.m. in the 900 block of Woodside Drive, where he was first confronted by a female resident. The woman's husband then confronted the intruder, asking him to leave.

The intruder refused to leave and began to fight a man inside. During the fight the intruder was stabbed multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Witnesses at the apartment complex say they had seen and reported an aggressive intoxicated male outside of the complex earlier in the evening.

Reports stated he was banging on cars, yelling and at one point was lying on the ground.

Witnesses say they last saw the man walking toward the apartment where the intrusion occurred.

While interviewing neighborhood residents deputies were informed of an unreported fight in a nearby apartment complex earlier in the evening.

Deputies were told an adult Native American man was at a family birthday party. During the party he became very intoxicated and is allegedly battered several people at the party, including one juvenile.

The man left the area on foot and was not seen again.

The incident was not reported.

Investigators have linked all three incidents and believe the deceased intruder is the suspect involved in all three incidents.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
